The U.S. Coast Guard’s efforts are focused on the waters north of the Maritime Boundary Line, which separates the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) from the waters of other countries. This line is an internationally recognized boundary that is used to determine the extent of each country’s jurisdiction over its marine resources. The Maritime Boundary Line is approximately 300 miles off the coast of Florida and extends northwards to the Canadian border.
Seizure of Illicit Fish and Sharks
On [date], the U.S. Coast Guard seized almost 1,600 pounds of red snapper and sharks from a fishing vessel north of the Maritime Boundary Line.
